Columbia (SC): Richland County parents are planning fun Halloween activities for their children this year instead of allowing them to participate in traditional trick or treating.

Jessica O’Connell, Mother of 3 children

Due to COVID-19, many parents have been nervous over allowing their children to trick or treat because they feel it isn’t safe and could spread COVID-19 rapidly around the neighborhood. Although they decided against allowing their children to trick or treat many parents still want their children to have an enjoyable Halloween experience so they have decided to celebrate the holiday a different way.

Some of the activities parents have planned out for their children include visiting relatives and dressing up as a family. Parents of older children are allowing their children to have small social gatherings outside as long as everyone is wearing a mask.
