Associate Dean of Research at U of SC’s Arnold School of Public Health, Dr. Alan W. Decho, says that the university is top 5 in the country for handling COVID-19 cases on a university campus. Decho claims that the responsibility for this vast decline in cases lies with President of the university, Bob Caslen, for providing an excellent example of COVID protocol. “The President has surrounded himself with very knowledgeable people to make these decisions and it has been very effective.”

Decho believes other universities will take note of how U of SC has handled COVID protocol on their campus, and may apply the same techniques President Caslen has used in an effort to keep their campuses open.

Decho also says there is a chance we could see an increase in the number of face to face classes on campus come spring if the number of COVID-19 cases continues to stay low. “I think we could possible increase face to face courses, but that is up to people beyond my pay grade.”
